Wildlife Joe installed 7' game fencing (56 miles of it!), and stocked Chazen with wildlife species historically found in this area. He has most of the larger animals you will see in SA — except for Elephants, (which you will see elsewhere), as they destroy game fencing — in fact, he has species of antelope I had never seen in my five other African safari countries. At Chazen you will see Giraffe, Cape Buffalo, White Rhino, Zebra, both Blue and Black Wildebeests, and much of the antelope family, including Eland, Sable, Kudu, Nyala, Impala, Waterbuck (right), Blesbok (including rare white Blesbok), both Gray and Mountain Rhebok, , Red Lechwe, Tsessebe, Springbok, Red Hartebeest, Red Duiker, along with Ostrich and many other birds. The cats are Caracals, Leopards and Lions — the Lions and Leopards are fenced from the rest of the wildlife, not only to protect the rest, but he raises the cats (with thorough genetic control) for restocking areas of SA where cats have become endangered or destroyed. Additional animal and bird species will be seen at other reserves, including elephant, black rhino, hippo, and crocodile. Last updated: 2008-09-15 08:53:15
